WELCOME

The mission of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church of Lufkin, Texas  is to follow the way of the Lord Jesus Christ as faithful disciples. We invite each man, woman and child in our parish to begin the transformation from Church member to fully formed Christian disciple by conviction.

Being a disciple by conviction requires that we know the Gospel, believe the Gospel, live the Gospel and share the Gospel with others. Becoming a properly formed Catholic is a lifelong adventure of saying “no” to casual or cultural Catholicism by saying “yes” to the liberating truth of the Word of God and living by grace through faith in the Son of God.

With Jesus Christ and the sacraments of His Church as our center, our goal is to encourage every parishioner of St. Andrew’s to enter a path of following Jesus through serious discipleship formation, spiritual growth and Christian community. Please avail yourselves of the resources in this website.

"Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ."  -- St. Jerome

"In this way, therefore, through the reading and study of the sacred books ’the word of God may spread rapidly and be glorified’ (2 Thessalonians 3:1) and the treasure of revelation, entrusted to the Church, may more and more fill the hearts of men. Just as the life of the Church is strengthened through more frequent celebration of the Eucharistic mystery, similarly we may hope for a new stimulus for the life of the Spirit from a growing reverence for the word of God, which 'lasts forever’ (Isaiah 40.8; see 1 Peter 1:23-25)."
